Introduction
LANXESS is a leading specialty chemicals company with sales of EUR 9.1 billion in 2012 and approximately 17,500 employees across 31 countries. The company currently operates 52 production sites worldwide. LANXESS’s core business involves the development, manufacturing, and distribution of plastics, rubber, chemical intermediates, and specialty chemicals. It is a constituent of leading sustainability indices including the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI World) and the FTSE4Good, as well as the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI). The company’s operational responsibilities are carried out by 14 business units, which are aligned with market demands. The heads of these business units report directly to the LANXESS Board of Management. This structure enables rapid decision-making, allowing the company to benefit without bureaucratic hindrance. The business units are grouped into three segments: Performance Polymers, Advanced Intermediates, and Performance Chemicals.
